miRNA is a class of non-coding small RNAs that regulates the expression of target genes primarily by completely or partially pairing with the 3’UTR of target gene mRNAs. The pmiR-RB-Report™ vector is a tool specifically designed to detect the action of miRNA. It clones the 3’UTR region of genes to the downstream of the vector’s Renilla luciferase (hRluc) genes, and the 3’UTR sequence is transcribed with Renilla luciferase, so the Renilla luciferase gene can be used as a reporter gene, and the luciferase as an internal reference gene. By doing so, whether the miRNA has a regulatory effect on the gene can be identified by detecting the relative changes in the activity of Renilla luciferase.
